TEAM WE VS FUNPLUS PHOENIX LPL SPRING SPLIT BETTING PREVIEW
Team WE are set to face off against FunPlus Phoenix this Tuesday in Week 3 of the League of Legends Pro League (LPL) 2020 Spring Split, where both sides will chase their third win of the season.
After winning the 2019 LoL World Championship, FunPlus Phoenix made little to no effort to leave a mark at Demacia Cup 2019, where they fielded a second-string team. That, however, might not have been the best idea, as their championship roster entered the 2020 LPL Spring Split a bit rusty and lost both of their opening fixtures against Invictus Gaming and eStar.
Fortunately for FPX, the league came to a standstill amid the COVID-19 outbreak, which gave them almost two months to get themselves into a winning rhythm. It seems like the preparations paid off, as they pocketed two wins against JD Gaming (2-1) and Dominus Esports (2-0) in Week 2. While not wins that should earn FPX any kind of special praise, the reigning world champions at least bounced back from a 0-2 week and gained some confidence after a rough start.

Perhaps it was not so much the confidence they lacked, but rather synergy. FPX just recently signed Kim “Khan” Dong-ha to their roster and the team have not had much time to adjust to the new face. That said, FPX did not field Khan during their Week 2 fixtures but instead opted to send Kim “GimGoon” Han-saem onto the battlefield. The latter played well and finished series with 5/1/8 and 0/0/9 map stats respectively.
It remains to be seen whether Khan will remain benched in Week 3. It might not matter all that much, however, as FPX won’t play around top lane but will instead follow their in-form superstar mid laner, Kim “Doinb” Tae-sang.
The young and talented Team WE roster kicked off their 2020 season with a respectable fifth-eighth finish at Demacia Cup 2019. They failed to carry over the momentum into Week 1 of the LPL, where they lost to JD Gaming. Team WE managed to bounce back in Week 2, however, when they pocketed two comfortable wins against Victory 5 and ViCi Gaming.
Team WE failed to end the week with a perfect record, as they got stomped by Royal Never Give Up on Sunday. The match was very one-sided, which raises some questions as to whether Team WE are prepared to play a high-calibre team such as FPX.
TEAM WE VS FUNPLUS PHOENIX LPL SPRING SPLIT BETTING PREDICTIONS
Team WE enter this bout as heavy underdogs at $6.39 to win with GG Bet. While a young and talented roster, it’s clear they need a bit more time to grow as a team and gain the needed experience to compete against top LPL teams. They may find their stride in the summer or the 2021 season, but as it stands now, Team WE’s performances are very underwhelming.
Team WE’s top laner Park “Morgan” Gi-tae and mid laner Bae “Plex” Ho-young both played well in the opening two weeks and will act as the two main carries against FunPlus Phoenix. That said, they will have their work cut out for them against GimGoon/Khan and Doinb, who are elite players in their respective roles.
Lane-by-lane FPX are the superior team and there is no reason to believe they will struggle here. Doinb is in great form and if he can get ahead, the young superstar will carry his team to victory by himself. We expect nothing less than a clean sweep from FPX, who can’t afford to drop games against teams like Team WE.
