Team LDLC, one of the oldest French esports organizations, announced on Wednesday that they were shutting down all esports operations.

The team’s ownership group, LDLC Group, also revealed that it would end its partnership with Olympique Lyonnais’ parent company, OL Group.

Team LDLC entered the esports space in 2010 and have since fielded legendary rosters and given amazing Counter-Strike tournament runs. Electronics retailer LDLC founded the team, and asides from their popular Counter-Strike: Global Offensive lineup, Team LDLC have fielded squads in FIFA, NBA 2K, and League of Legends.

Team LDLC collaborated with the French football team Olympique Lyonnais in January 2020 through OL Group and rebranded to LDLC OL. The organization also worked with French ex-NBA player Tony Parker’s academy program.

Lyon’s esports division, known as OL eSports, had been in operation three years before the partnership and mostly competed in the FIFA scene. During their collaboration, Lyon revealed that it intended to organize major international esports events at a proposed 16,000-seater multi-purpose stadium.

In the Tuesday post, LDLC Group revealed that the partnership and its involvement with esports had officially ended. Team LDLC will officially conclude all esports-related operations by July.

“While teams enjoy wide notoriety and recognition among passionate gamers, they have not – despite the efforts made – managed to find a sufficient place with the general public,” the release read.

“Thus, the LDLC Group and the OL Group decided in advance to end their LDLC OL partnership from the end of July 2023. The end of this partnership will also mark for LDLC Event its withdrawal from the esports scene and its operational activities in this sector.”

The group extended its thanks to all LDLC Event teams as well as the LDLC OL for their contributions to the organization and wished them well in future endeavors.

During their early years, Team LDLC became known for winning events like the DreamHack Winter 2014 Major, making them one of the 13 squads to win a Major CS:GO championship. They won the event with a star-studded lineup that included Vincent “Happy” Cervoni Schopenhauer, Nathan “NBK-” Schmitt, and Richard “shox” Papillon.

Team LDLC sold the lineup to Team EnVyUs a few months after the tournament, who, in turn, won the DreamHack Open Cluj-Napoca Major in 2015.

The French team also launched other notable CS:GO players such as Kenny’ kennyS’ Schrub, Kevin “Ex6TenZ” Droolans, and Dan’ apEX’ Madesclaire. Team LDLC won the European Master tournament multiple times with their League of Legends lineup and qualified from the French regional league.

Over the past five years, Team LDLC started withdrawing from the esports scene and fielded only CS, LoL, and FIFA teams. They previously had a lineup in Call of Duty, Fortnite, StarCraft 2, Heroes of the Storm, Overwatch, and the eSports World Rally Championship.

They failed to attend nearly any tier-one CS:GO tournament since they were dropped from the ESL Pro League tournament in 2018.

With the announcement, Team LDLC joined several other esports organizations to cease operations in the past few months.

Their CS:GO lineup are currently set to compete in the ESL Challenger League from June 8 to 11, which will likely be their last event as a team. Team LDLC’s League of Legends team will presumably participate when the LFL 2023 Summer Split kicks off in June.

ESBs free Counter-Strike: Global Offensive betting tips for Tuesday, May 9, focus on three ESL Challenger League Season 45: Europe bouts. Here are our predictions for Team LDLC vs B8, LookingForOrg vs Sprout, and Movistar Riders vs ex-Partizan Esports.

TEAM LDLC vs B8 CS:GO BETTING & MATCH DETAIL

Best Odds: LDLC $2.62 at GG Bet | B8 $1.44 at GG Bet
When: May 9, 2023 |19:00 CEST
Watch Live: Twitch (https://www.twitch.tv/esl_csgo)

Team LDLC and B8 will clash in the first round of the lower bracket at ESL Challenger League Season 45: Europe. Itll mark their first meeting since February when B8 defeated Team LDLC in the BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023: European RMR Qualifier A.
Since crashing out of the RMR, Team LDLC have looked solid, but theyve not won a single tournament. Their best tournament results came at RES Western European Masters: Spring 2023 (fifth-sixth) and CCT West Europe Series #2 (fifth-eighth).

Like LDLC, B8 didnt make it to the BLAST.tv Paris Major after crashing out of the RMR, and theyve since played just six fixtures; however, most were compacted at the end of April, so its not like B8 will enter this match rusty. Still, B8 havent faced any tough opponents, so its hard to explain why theyre priced as $1.44 favourites.

B8 defeated Team LDLC last time, but the French squad have since made some changes and now look better, so theres no reason to have them priced as heavy underdogs. Team LDLC to win at $2.62 or better is a solid value bet with esports betting sites.

LOOKING FOR ORG vs SPROUT CS:GO BETTING & MATCH DETAIL

Best Odds: FLO $1.57 at GG Bet | Sprout $2.25 at GG Bet
When: May 9, 2023 |19:00 CEST
Watch Live: Twitch (https://www.twitch.tv/esl_csgo)

LookingForOrg (former HEET) failed to qualify for the RMR and thus missed a chance to attend the Paris Major. However, even though HEET didnt show much against the worlds top teams, theyve done well for themselves.

At the end of April, the French squad won CCT Central Europe Series #6 and started their ESL Challenger League Season 45 campaign with a win against Into the Win (2-1), but proved to be no match for SAW (1-2). Regardless, LFO have shown decent results over the last few weeks.

The German CS:GO squad enter this match with a 2-3 record with wins against Insilio (2-0) and Dynamo Eclot (2-0) and three defeats against 9INE (1-2), Websterz (1-2), and Nexus Gaming (7-16).

Even before that run, Sprout havent produced anything remarkable, nor were they very consistent with their showings.
Esports bookmakers have LFO priced as favourites, which can be explained by looking at their title-run at CCT Central Europe Series #6, but if we zoom out, there isnt much to set these two teams apart, so betting on LookingForOrg at $1.57 makes no sense. Value is with Sprout.

MOVISTAR RIDERS vs EX-PARTIZAN ESPORTS BETTING & MATCH DETAIL

Best Odds: Movistar $1.33 at GG Bet | ex-Partizan $3.25 at GG Bet
When: May 9, 2023 |19:00 CEST
Watch Live: Twitch (https://www.twitch.tv/esl_csgo)

Movistar Riders had an explosive start to the tournament and demolished Iron Branch (2-0) before getting reverse-swept by EYEBALLERS (1-2) in the second round of the upper bracket. The Spaniards have since attended and won the ESL Challenger at DreamHack Melbourne 2023 by beating Rare Atom (19-16), Bad News Eagles (16-11), ECSTATIC (2-0), and Bad News Eagles (2-0) in the finals.

Their next opponents, ex-Partizan have not achieved nearly as much recently or throughout this season. Since getting cut by the Serbian esports organisation, the Balkan roster have attended two events, the Elisa Invitational Spring 2023 and CCT West Europe Series #3, but didnt accomplish much, with a 21st-23rd and 23rd-24th-place finish, respectively.
Even in their recent outings, ex-Partizan failed to impress, making it tough to believe well see an upset on Tuesday. Movistar Riders to win 2-0 at $2.20 is more than fair.

SKADE vs TEAM LDLC WINNERS LEAGUE – SEASON 4: EUROPE INVITE DIVISION BETTING PREVIEW

SKADE and Team LDLC will clash for the first time in their history on Thursday in the third round of the WINNERS League: Europe Invite Division.

SKADE will look to improve upon their third-fourth finish in the previous season of the WINNERS League and obtain their first title since April, when the Bulgarians won SECTOR: MOSTBET Season 2. Although Teodor “SPELLAN” Nikolov and his team put up an impressive performance at MOSTBET, where they lost only one match throughout the whole tournament, they have struggled to show any encouraging results since.

SKADE’s best result in the past two months came at ESEA Season 33: Advanced Division – Europe, where they finished fourth. As for their results in May, SKADE finished last at #HomeSweetHome: Week 3 and SECTOR: MOSTBET Season 3, and ninth-12th in the fourth, fifth and sixth weeks of #HomeSweetHome. SPELLAN and Alex “Rainwaker” Petrov also participated at Red Bull Flick: West Europe, where they were eliminated in the first round.

SKADE enter this match with a 4-6 record from their last 10 fixtures and a 6-14 record from their last 20, which does not inspire much confidence given the ordinary quality of their opposition in that time. Although SPELLAN and co. defeated Complexity Gaming (16-14) last Wednesday in the opening match of #HomeSweetHome: Week 6, the American side are known to struggle in best-of-one (Bo1) fixtures.

Team LDLC come into this clash with two new members in Alexandre bodyy Pianaro and Aurlien afroo Drapier. The newest arrivals have replaced Logan LOGAN Corti and Kilian Gringo Garcia, who were benched last Friday after a run of poor performances.

Outside of a runner-up finish at Assembly Winter 2020 and a semi-final appearance at ESL Championnat National Summer 2020, LDLC have not seen much success since the turn of the year. The latter of those events can hardly be considered an achievement anyway, since it was a B-Tier national tournament that did not feature any strong teams besides Team Heretics.

Things have not improved for LDLC in recent weeks either. They failed to make any noise at the Hellcase Cup #8 and CS:GO Fight Night tournaments, where they were eliminated in the group stage.

It should surprise nobody that LDLC have plummeted in the CS:GO esports global rankings. They are now ranked 78th in the world, which is a far cry from their 53rd place in April and 12th place in November 2018.

SKADE vs TEAM LDLC WINNERS LEAGUE – SEASON 4: EUROPE INVITE DIVISION BETTING PREDICTIONS

Both teams have struggled of late, but the betting odds heavily favour SKADE due to Team LDLC’s disastrous performance at ESEA Season 34.

The newest additions afroo and bodyy both failed to impress in their club debut on Monday, which suggests they will need a couple of weeks to integrate. That, however, does not explain why the odds on LDLC are so high.

Ali “hAdji” Ha?nouss has played exceptionally throughout the last three months. He is averaging a 1.17 rating overall and 1.41 rating in the WINNERS League, which is far above all of his teammates and everyone on SKADE’s roster.

Additionally, SKADE enter this match on a 1-5 run on their best map, Inferno, while LDLC hold a substantial win-rate advantage on their favourite map, Dust II (67% – 43%).

Betting on LDLC to win is still a bit too risky for our liking due to the shaky performance from bodyy and afroo in their debut. However, the French squad should at least keep this one close and not lose by more than three rounds.

Team LDLC have benched Logan “LOGAN” Corti and Kilian “Gringo” Garcia amid rumours of two new players joining their CS:GO esports roster.

The news surfaced on Friday, May 29, only days after it was reported the French esports organisation were on the verge of making Alexandre “bodyy” Pianaro and Aurlien “afroo” Drapier their fifth and sixth signings of the year.

The roster changes come only five months after LDLC announced a new roster built around Christophe “SIXER” Xia, who joined the team in April 2019. In January, LDLC replaced Vincent “Happy” Schopenhauer, Engin “MAJ3R” Kpeli and Simon “tabz” Feldt with Lambert “Lambert” Prigent, Ali “hAdji” Ha?nouss, LOGAN and Gringo. LOGAN had previously played with LDLC from February 2018 to March 2019, while Gringo who was an unknown talent at the time.

Unfortunately, the new roster failed to see much success. Team LDLC began the year with a runners-up finish at Assembly Winter 2020, but their only notable result since was third-fourth finish at ESL Championnat National Summer 2020 at the start of May. Most recently, they wound up in a share of last place at the C-Tier CS:GO Fight Night event.

LOGAN and Gringo proved to be two of the main culprits in LDLC’s period of instability. LOGAN ended his second stint with LDLC with a 0.95 rating, while Gringo failed to live up to the initial hype and averaged a disappointing 0.89 rating across four months with the team.

Although LDLC’s previous punt on unproven talent backfired, it seems they are ready to take another shot at it with afroo. The 20-year-old CS:GO player is a relative unknown, but he has chemistry with bodyy from their time together at FiveG.

Bodyy, on the other hand, is a well-known CS:GO player who compiled an impressive portfolio during his three years at G2 Esports. Career highlights include gold medals at the ESL Pro League Season 5 Finals and DreamHack Masters Malm? 2017, runner-up finishes at ESL Pro League Season 3 Finals and StarLadder i-League StarSeries Season 2, as well as bronze medals at EPICENTER 2017 and World Electronic Sports Games 2018.

Although the arrival of afroo and bodyy has not yet been confirmed, it’s expected LDLC will announce the new signings sometime next week. The French squad are currently fighting for promotion in ESEA Season 34: Advanced Division – Europe, where they hold a 4-0 record ahead of their next match on Monday, June 1.

Team LDLC are embarking on a complete remake of their CS:GO esports roster, which they will build around Christophe “SIXER” Xia as they wave goodbye to Vincent “Happy” Schopenhauer.

Once a very successful team, LDLC went through tough times in 2019 when they saw the departure of key members and failed to live up to expectations. That being said, the French squad have already forged a plan which would allow them to relight their fire and re-establish themselves as one of the best CS:GO teams in the country.

LDLCs struggles began early in 2019 when they parted ways with Alex “ALEX” McMeekin and Fran?ois “AmaNEk” Delaunay. ALEX left the team back in December 2018 when he joined Team Vitality, while AmaNEk opted to leave for G2 Esports in January 2019. Shortly after, LDLC also lost Logan “LOGAN” Corti, who left for 3DMAC in March 2019 and later joined Team Heretics, where he remains to date.

Due to the departure of ALEX, AmaNEk and LOGAN, LDLC were left with a three-man core of SIXER, Happy and Engin “MAJ3R” Kpeli that failed to make much noise. Despite LDLC’s best attempts to find the right players to join their core trio, the French outfit failed to assemble a competitive quintet. Their best results came in June 2019, when they won a B-Tier tournament ESL Championnat National Summer 2019.

MAJ3R and co. also participated in several C-Tier tournaments and qualifiers for A-Tier events, but to no avail. In December, LDLC finished second at ESL Championnat National Winter 2019 after losing to The Dice and shortly after secured a silver medal at WESG 2019 West Europe, where they lost against Phoenix in the finals.

Towards the end of the year, LDLC parted ways with their entry fragger Alexandre “xms” Fort and coach Rodolphe “rodeN” Bianco. This week they lost both Simon “tabz” Feldt and their core member and ex-IGL MAJ3R. Xms has already found a new home at Team Heretics, while MAJ3R announced earlier last weekend that he will return to Turkey and assemble his own team with his ex-Space Soldiers teammates Engin “ngiN” Kor and Ahmet “paz” Karahoca.

According to reports, LDLC have already made a plan for the future and shortlisted the members for their new roster. Former EnVyUs Academy player Lambert “Lambert” Prigent is said to play a key role in LDLC’s new project, as he would bring in his former teammate Ali “hAdji” Ha?nouss and convince LOGAN to return to the team. LDLC also announced they will be signing Kilian “Gringo” Garcia on a trial basis.

If the reports are confirmed, LDLC’s team for 2020 will look as follows:

  • Lambert “Lambert” Prigent
  • Ali “hAdji” Ha?nouss
  • Christophe “SIXER” Xia
  • Logan “LOGAN” Corti
  • Kilian “Gringo” Garcia – trial
  • Steeve “Ozstrik3r” Flavigni C coach

The announcement of a complete roster overhaul comes shortly after LDLC secured a partnership with French football giant Olympique Lyonnais as part of their revamped esports project. The deal also resulted in LDLC organizations renaming into LDLC OL.

LDLC OL also field esports teams in Fortnite, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, World Rally Championship and League of Legends, where they are the defending national champions.
