Team Dignitas have officially returned to the male CS:GO esports scene with the signing of the original Ninjas in Pyjamas roster, which will be joined by young Norwegian AWPer H?kon “hallzerk” Fj?rli as the fifth and final member of the team.

The announced was made on Tuesday with a short video that confirmed the legendary four-man core of Christopher “GeT_RiGhT” Alesund, Patrik “f0rest” Lindberg, Richard “Xizt” Landstr?m and Adam “friberg” Friberg, who played together for five years at NiP.

GeT_RiGhT, f0rest, Xizt, friberg and Robin “Fifflaren” Johansson are known for their dominance in the early days of CS:GO. They earned a spot in the CS:GO hall of fame with their renowned 87-0 LAN map win streak in 2012-2013, which is to date one of the most impressive achievements in esports history. In August 2014, the quintet won ESL One Cologne 2014, which was NiP’s first and, to date, only Major title.

Joining them will be a 19-year-old AWPer hallzerk, who has previously played for Nordavind and is now ready to set foot in the top tier of the CS:GO competitive scene. While an unproven talent at the highest level, the young Norwegian has made a name for himself by helping his side qualify for ESEA MDL Europe Season 33.

According to GeT_RiGhT, the decision to join Dignitas was an easy one to make.

“When this offer fell into my lap, I felt this was the best choice for my future of everything I had on the table. Mostly, because I didn’t want to end my career already and that burning desire came into my core that I haven’t felt for some time,” he said.

“Joining an organisation like DIG is like a dream come true – mostly because of the people around it, the team itself and what the goals are for the future. I’m more excited to wake up every day knowing it’ll be a battle, but a battle I will not give up that easily.”

The return follow last year’s announcement from Dignitas CEO Michael Prindiville, who confirmed his organisation was looking to re-enter the male CS:GO scene. DIG have only fielded a female team since mid-2018, when they dropped their American roster of Michael “Grim” Wince, Ronnie “ryx” Bylicki, Peter “ptr” Gurney, Gage “Infinite” Green and Mitch “mitch” Semago.

Dignitas’ re-entry into the CS:GO scene is one of several big moves they have made in recent times. Last year, DIG acquired a League of Legends team and a spot in the LoL Championship Series when they bought out Clutch Gaming.

“The signing of these world class players and DIG’s re-entry into CS:GO marks yet another tentpole moment in the explosive upward trajectory of this esports organization,” said Prindiville.

“In the last seven months DIG has re-entered the top two esports in the world – League of Legends and CS:GO – in stunning fashion, assembling intoxicating teams that define the brand of DIG: championship pedigree, innovative, engaging and gritty. I’m thrilled to welcome GeT_RiGhT, Xizt, friberg, f0rest, Hallzerk and Fifflaren to DIG and look forward to engaging with the fans as we tell the best story in CS:GO.”

Team Dignitas are returning to the professional CS:GO esports scene after over a year without a male roster.

Dignitas CEO Michael Prindiville announced via Twitter and YouTube this week that he and his organization were hoping to give a lifeline to some disillusioned players.

“We see terrible player treatment, lack of management, lack of content around those players, we even heard about players not getting paid,” he said.

“It just can’t happen anymore. There are too good players in Counter-Strike to let them fall by the wayside.”

Prindiville ended the announcement by calling out all “hungry players” who are looking to build a dynasty and change the game to get in touch with him.

Several CS:GO players have already reached out to Dignitas via Twitter, as well as fans demanding Dignitas to bring back the old logo that decorated the jerseys of a once-feared team.

Dignitas have been without a male CS:GO team since August 2018, when they decided to part ways with Mitch “mitch” Semago, Gage “Infinite” Green, Peter “ptr” Gurney, Anthony “gMd” Guimond and Josh “shinobi” Abastado following their relegation from the ESL Pro League.

Yet Dignitas is still a name well known to the CS:GO community, especially among veterans who have been in the industry for over half a decade.

The North American organization has a long history in Counter-Strike, which dates back to 2006 when Dignitas competed in Counter-Strike: Source.

While Dignitas never managed to claim the number one spot in the global rankings, they have been to five majors, the last of which was ESL One Cologne 2016. There they entered with a Danish team, which later went on to play under North.

Unfortunately, their last major appearance did not amount to anything noteworthy, as they finished ninth-12th after failing to advance further than the group stage.

The announcement comes at a very convenient time, considering there are several big organizations who are aiming to either create or completely revamp their rosters.

Most notable of those are 100 Thieves, with founder Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag looking to build a “championship-calibre” CS:GO roster, and Complexity, who are looking to start over and rebuild.

Jason Lake, the owner and CEO of Complexity, took to Twitter in late August to express his frustration with his teams poor results.

He also said he was prepared to pay any price to build a “juggernaut team” and called out pro players to help him with the rebuild.

Jos ViolentPanda van Meurs, Pierre Turbopolsa Silfver, and Alexandre Kaydop Courant are joining the Team Dignitas Rocket League squad. The team announced the acquisition of the trio through social media on May 22. I am really ecstatic to be joining Team Dignitas, alongside my team,” ViolentPanda said.

ViolentPanda, Turbopolsa and Kaydop used to play for Gale Force eSports, the trio was formed in early 2017. Under this banner, these three players won the season 4 World Championship. Team Dignitas acquired the entire roster and expects to defend the title next June in London where the season 5 World Championship final is taking place.

The change comes after a series of negative results from the previous roster. Zoli zol Digness, Isaac “Turtle” App, and Reed Chicago Wilen finished fourth in the North American Rocket League. The team also failed to qualify in the Northern Arena Invitational, they lost in quarterfinals against NRG and in the Losers Round 3 against Cloud9. “Wed like to thank Chicago, zol, and Turtle for their time and professionalism while playing for Team Dignitas,” the team said in the press release. The future of the former players remains unclear but Team Dignitas assured theyd support the players through the transition.

The Rocket League Championship Series Season 5 Finals starts on June 8. Team Dignitas is taking Gale Force eSports place in quarterfinals. The team will face the winner between Evil Geniuses and Chiefs eSports Club.
