BetBoom Team to bring in Resolut1on for ESL One Berlin Major https://www.grivaschess.com/betboom-team-to-bring-in-resolut1on-for-esl-one-berlin-major/ https://www.grivaschess.com/betboom-team-to-bring-in-resolut1on-for-esl-one-berlin-major/#respond Mon, 24 Apr 2023 04:16:52 +0000 https://www.grivaschess.com/?p=29866 BetBoom Team announced on April 22 that they would field Roman “Resolut1on” Fomynok in place of Ivan “Pure” Moskalenko on their Dota 2 roster at ESL One Berlin Major 2023.

In a Twitter post, BetBoom explained that, despite their best attempts, they could not resolve Pure’s visa issues in time for the competition. As a result, Old G’s Resolut1on will temporarily be the team’s stand-in offlaner.

Previously, there was speculation that Resolut1on would play for OG in place of Dmitry “DM” Dorokhin at the Major. BetBoom also revealed that Egor “Nightfall” Grigorenko would return to his previous role as carry for the tournament.

“We tried our very best, but we couldn’t beat Pure’s visa issues this time. Instead, Resolut1on will be our Pos 3 in Berlin, while Nightfall will play carry role. Not the outcome we hoped for, but we’ll give it our all at the Major anyway,” the statement read.

Due to the change, BetBoom will compete in the ESL One Berlin Major with the following players: Resolut1on, Nightfall, Vitalie “Save-” Melnic, Danil “gpk” Skutin and Alexander “TORONTOTOKYO” Khertek.

BetBoom qualified for the Berlin Major following their third-place finish in Division 1 of Tour 2: EEU 2023 of the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC). They released a statement on April 13 informing fans that while all the other players had received visas to participate in the Major, Pure faced issues with his permit.

The loss of one of their players could place BetBoom in a difficult situation, particularly due to how important the Major is in accumulating DPC points. While BetBoom generated significant hype with their early results when they were first created, they have failed to maintain that form over time.

BetBoom notably recorded third place in Tour 2 and reached 15th-16th place at the first Major of the season. Having veteran player Resolut1on on their lineup will hopefully help the team produce better results and more convincing wins.

ESL One Berlin Major 2023 will kick off on April 26 and run until May 7, with a prize pool of US$500,000 and 2,700 DOC points. BetBoom are set to face off against Team Aster, who are also struggling with visa issues, on April 26. Both teams are a part of Group A alongside Gaimin Gladiators, 9 Pandas, Evil Geniuses, PSG.LGD, TSM, Execration, and Team Liquid.
