North American esports outfit Spacestation Gaming announced on Monday that they had acquired Cloud9’s previous Halo roster ahead of the 2023 season.
This news comes just a day after C9 announced the disbandment of their Halo team. Meanwhile, Spacestation Gaming had been rumored to be leaving the Halo scene having parted ways with all of their players after failing to qualify for the 2022 Halo World Championship main event.
The players who will be representing Spacestation Gaming are Kevin “Eco” Smith, Zane “Penguin” Hearon, Adam “Bound” Gray, Braedon “StelluR” Boettcher. They will be playing under head coach Kyle “Elamite” Elam, who joined Spacestation last year.
While fans have been agitated over C9 losing players that led them to second place at the 2022 Halo World Championship, Spacestation have jumped on the opportunity to foot one of the strongest teams in the Halo scene.
Spacestation Gaming’s old team members who were released on November 11 include Irving “Drift” RamÃrez, Josbe “Tapping Buttons” Valadez, and John “Pelu” Montoya, and coach Carlos “Nugget” Marlasca. Also part of the team was Atzin “Atzo” Mayen, who left in October.
The HCS Kickoff Major is scheduled to commence in February of next year.
